Having talked Design Essentials Speed Networking Style before. Here’s another point of view with huge thanks for this guest blog post from Lucy at Spotty Octopus.
Speed Networking is somewhat of a newbie on the networking scene, some people refer to it as a relation of speed dating, here’s how that works. Continue reading
The Saffron Walden Town Team is made up of local traders, business people and elected officials. It aims to encourage more people to shop in the town and ensure it remains a vibrant and prosperous place to work, shop, visit and live.
The creation of a Town Team was identified as a ‘key action’ following a series of meetings held between traders, Uttlesford District Council and Saffron Walden Town Council.
Market research and ‘mystery shopper’ visits have already been carried out to help create an accurate picture of what the town needs.
And the newly created Town Team’s first task will be to agree and deliver a Town Centre Action Plan which will help implement new ideas to boost trade. Continue reading
Well those of you who know me are already more than aware that I like nothing better than a good chat. I just love finding out about what makes people tick, whether that be their interests, hobbies, background, likes and dislikes, favourite member of Take That?
For the record might I add here that if you enjoy a G&T and a fondness for wine you are very likely to be my cup of tea. Which I should add I enjoy in equal measures, well almost. Continue reading

We were delighted to be involved with a group of other businesses to give one happy couple their dream wedding.
Hero’s Wedding was an initiative launched last year by military wives Hayley Oats – who is based at Carver Barracks in Wimbish – and Emma Waring. Along with SEO expert Steve Hooper, the trio aimed to offer the complete wedding package to one couple based with the Forces.
The competition was open to the UK and entries flooded in from couples who told their love stories and reasons why they should win. In November, Leanne and Ross Allan were announced as the winners after receiving several thousand votes. Continue reading
A huge thanks to Cambridge Style Week for such a fantastic ‘first ever event’, so many talented and enthusiastic people. It was a pleasure to showcase Design Essentials products and Colour Therapy Lighting at the event, together with Guest Artists Michelle Thompson’s and Dianna Probst’s work. Mary and Angie from Cambridge Interiors designed 3 sets to showcase Design Essentials products, and the lovely Claire Ashman Smith from Waterbaby Flowers the floral displays. The feedback and response we received was brilliant.
Some fantastic Independent business took part that I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time. Gwendolen from Clamp Optometrists and Tweed Vixen. It was good to catch up with good friends of mine, Sarah Shoequeen from Modish, model-esque Nikki from Curious Orange, Sally Cambridge Raincoat Company, Phil and Joanna from Vida Moda, who introduced me to the gorgeous model Sabine as well as Anne and Steve from Independent Cambridge. Design Essentials lights up the windows of Beauty Bump and Baby in Saffron Walden.
It is possible that even if you live in Saffron Walden you may not have come across the lovely shop which is Beauty Bump and Baby, that’s tucked away in Market Row (opposite Johnny and Jenny’s), even though it’s been going for over a year now.
One of the many great things about owner, Louise Cairns, is that she has collaborated with other local businesses, for example, Kelly Compton of Saffron Crafts, Ali Dowsett from Bubalish Bibs and Catherine Kelly who produces lovely designs made from wires in frames. Continue reading

Well less than 24 hours to this ‘first ever’. Cambridge Style Week is upon us, and Design Essentials are taking part.
I must admit when I first heard about it from Nicky Shephard one of the organisers I was sold. Her passion for the project and the idea behind it left me in no doubt that this was something I would enjoy being included in, indeed some of the advertising behind the event captures this vision.
